A full renovation strips the old covering back to the rafters, sorts anything hidden underneath, and re-covers with new underlay, battens and the tile or slate of your choice. It's the biggest job we do and the one where a good quote matters most.

What a full re-roof involves
- Scaffolding to the whole roof, with edge protection
- Stripping the old covering and disposing of it
- Inspecting and repairing rafters, wall plates and any rot found
- New breathable underlay and treated battens
- New tiles or slates, ridge, hips and verges (dry-fix where appropriate)
- New leadwork at chimneys, abutments and valleys
- Ventilation to current Building Regulations
- Gutters, fascias and soffits replaced at the same time if you want them done — the scaffold is already there
Building Regulations
Re-covering more than a quarter of a roof is notifiable work in England and Wales. It means the roof usually needs insulation brought up to standard and proper ventilation. We handle the notification and give you the certificate.
How long it takes
A terrace typically takes 2–4 days on site, a semi 3–6 and a detached house 5–10, plus scaffolding up before and down after. Weather can move dates; we'll keep you informed.
What it costs
Roofing is priced by area and by covering. Concrete interlocking tiles are the cheapest per square metre; clay and natural slate cost more but last longer and suit older houses. Scaffolding and waste are priced separately on your quote so you can see exactly where the money goes. Use the quote tool for an indicative range for your roof.

Usually not for a like-for-like re-roof. Conservation areas and listed buildings have rules about materials — we'll check before quoting.
Can I stay in the house while it's done?
Yes. The roof is covered at the end of every day and the work is done from outside. You'll hear it, but you won't need to move out.
